So I can’t help but be really skeptical about this, but apparently Jeopardy is preparing to feature Israel as a clue for this up and coming year’s episodes.
From Haaretz:
I’ll take Israel for $2,000, Alex.
That’s what contestants on “Jeopardy!” were saying November 23, when the famous quiz show included a Double Jeopardy category titled “A Journey Through Israel.”
Host Alex Trebek and his team, the Clue Crew, traveled to the Holy Land in early September, the show’s first time there, to tape the questions, which also will be used throughout the year.
They spent nearly three weeks exploring and filming, starting in Tiberias and winding their way around the country.
I look to Shea and Sean to let me know if this turns out to be thinly veiled free good press for Israel. Considering that the recent Toronto Film Festival was part of a public relations campaign by the Israeli government to improve its image to the world after Gaza (a hired PR firm included), I just can’t help but look to this with more than a little skepticism. I mean, the analogy may be offensive to some, but I wonder if Jeopardy! did a piece like this on South Africa at the height of Apartheid.
